Liquor Depot FAQ

Barrel Picks & Limited Bottles

What is a Liquor Depot single-barrel pick?

A single-barrel pick is whiskey or another spirit bottled from one specific barrel selected for its flavor, balance, and character. Unlike a standard release blended from many barrels, every single-barrel selection reflects the individual barrel it came from.

Browse current Liquor Depot barrel picks.

Who selects Liquor Depot’s private barrels?

Liquor Depot’s private-barrel selections are personally chosen by Trey Lawson and the Liquor Depot team. The goal is to choose barrels with a distinct profile that customers cannot get from the brand’s standard shelf release.

How many barrel picks has Liquor Depot selected?

Liquor Depot has selected more than 140 private barrels across bourbon, whiskey, tequila, and other spirits. The program continues to add new one-time releases throughout the year.

Can I buy Liquor Depot barrel picks online?

Yes. Available Liquor Depot single-barrel selections are listed in the Shop Barrel Picks section. Product pages show current pricing and stock status. Because each pick comes from a finite barrel, availability can change quickly.

Why do single-barrel picks sell out?

A barrel produces a limited number of bottles. Once every bottle from that barrel is sold, that exact release cannot be recreated. A future pick from the same distillery may have a different age, proof, warehouse location, recipe, or flavor profile.

Are “store pick” and “private barrel” the same thing?

The terms are often used interchangeably. Both generally describe a barrel selected by a retailer, group, or organization and bottled specifically for them. Exact terminology varies by producer.

How do I hear about new and allocated bottle releases?

Join Liquor Depot’s email list for updates on new arrivals, limited releases, allocated bottles, and upcoming barrel picks. You can also follow Liquor Depot and the Behind the Bottle series for release stories and producer visits.

Online Orders & Returns

What is Liquor Depot’s return policy for store picks?

Liquor Depot does not offer refunds on Store Pick or Private Barrel bottles. Review the complete return policy before purchasing a limited bottle.

What should I do if a shipped bottle arrives broken?

If a bottle arrives broken during shipment, email trey@liquordepottampa.com with your order information and photos of the damaged package and bottle.

Why does an online item show as sold out?

Many products in the online shop are single-barrel or limited releases. Inventory is finite, and the exact bottle may not return after it sells out. Check back for new picks or join the email list for release updates.

Who should I contact about an order or product question?

Use the Liquor Depot contact page for general questions. For damaged shipments involving a store-pick bottle, email trey@liquordepottampa.com.

Liquor Depot FAQ

Bourbon, Whiskey & Tequila Basics

What is bourbon?

Bourbon is an American whiskey made from a grain recipe containing at least 51% corn. It is distilled within legal proof limits and aged in new, charred oak containers. Bourbon commonly develops flavors such as caramel, vanilla, baking spice, toasted oak, and fruit.

What is whiskey?

Whiskey is a distilled spirit made from fermented grain and commonly matured in wood. Bourbon, rye, Scotch whisky, Irish whiskey, Tennessee whiskey, and American single malt are different styles with their own production rules and flavor profiles.

What is rye whiskey?

In the United States, rye whiskey is made from a grain recipe containing at least 51% rye. Rye often tastes drier and spicier than bourbon, with notes such as pepper, herbs, citrus, baking spice, and grain. It is a classic choice for a Manhattan or rye Old Fashioned.

What is the difference between bourbon and whiskey?

Whiskey is the broad category; bourbon is one legally defined type of American whiskey. Every bourbon is whiskey, but not every whiskey is bourbon. Bourbon must meet requirements involving its corn content, production proof, and use of new charred oak.

What is tequila made from?

Tequila is produced in designated regions of Mexico from blue Weber agave. The agave hearts, called piñas, are cooked, crushed, fermented, and distilled. Blanco tequila is generally unaged or briefly rested, while reposado and añejo tequila spend progressively more time in oak.

What is the difference between tequila and mezcal?

Tequila is a specific agave spirit made from blue Weber agave in approved tequila-producing regions. Mezcal can be made from a wider range of agave varieties in approved mezcal-producing regions. Production methods vary, and some mezcals develop a smoky character from cooking agave in earthen pits.
