One hundred and fifty barrels ago, we drove to Kentucky on a hunch. Frank's rule was simple: don't put your name on something you wouldn't pour for a friend. We've held to it through 149 barrels since — and for the hundred-and-fiftieth, we came back to where a lot of Tampa's bourbon education starts.
Buffalo Trace's Mash Bill #1 is the low-rye workhorse that built a dozen legendary labels, and a single barrel of it is a different animal than the bottle on the shelf. This one came out of the warehouse showing [deep caramel and baked apple, with a cinnamon-dusted finish that runs longer than it has any right to at 90 proof].
